Days gone by

Hi guys, sorry i haven't blogged in a while its been kinda busy these past few days but trust me you haven't missed much. Well i guess the reason i got on my key board today was not because i have any Entertainment gist to give but because i had to know how you (my readers) Would react to this very sad and awkward situation.... So here goes.

I was on my way to work as usual and i turn on the car radio to 92.3 Inspiration Fm and Dan Foster was playing gospel jams as usual, then this guy calls in and start to narrate the saddest sorry i think i have heard in a long time... He said he just got a baby girl but in the process he lost his wife and the baby's twin brother, he said he had only been married for a year and he loved every minute of it. What actually caught my attention was the fact that in all the disaster and sadness that he had gone through he found the strength to say "it is well" and "thank you Jesus", and for me that way hard and yet so worming to know that in the midst of the raging storms he had the mind to look up to God and not blame him.... hmmm.

So i was wondering what would you do in such a situation? You know it is easy to remember God in times of trouble and hardship like this example of the man that wrote the hylm "Rock of ages Cleft for me" his story was that he was stuck on a deserted road and he had nowhere to go to then the rain started and he took shelter under a rock and then remembered that God was that road in his time of need. But in times of disaster i dear say it is not easy to remember God, like the example of the man that wrote and composed the hylm "It is Well", he lost his entire family in a ship wreck and still could say "no matter my loss thou has taught me to say... It is well" wow strong words...sniff sniff....

By any means that is a brave man with a daughter that would feel all the strength of God's wisdom since her father took the right step... WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS or COMMENTS?

She loves me, She loves me not.

“I don’t know that many people that like to wash out their dirty linen in public like you do,” my friend would probably say when he reads this. But his concerns haven’t helped me much, else I wouldn’t be writing this.

I called up the poor fellow just last night to tell him about my brake up with yet another girl and all he could mutter was “Not again!” Maybe I have issues, maybe I do not. But before you judge me you should know this – love and all that mushy feeling that more often than not accompanies it, only turns your brain to eh, mush. Don’t get me wrong. I am not afraid to love, but for some reason I lack the necessary skill to deal with it I guess.

It’s a mere four lettered word but it is to a grown man what the boogey man is to kids. And we thought we were all grown. I hate to make excuses, but I believe someone other than me should be made responsible for why my heart skips every time a girl uses the word “love” in a sentence. The context in which she is using it is almost irrelevant as far I am concerned. It starts with how much she loves mangoes, or mineral water and then every time she mentions her annoying little dog, pooky, she reminds you of how much she loves him too. It’s a sign, but only a few of us are attentive enough to spot it. I knew there was trouble brewing, and it was only a matter of time before she likens me to pooky. I was so right.

She said the word.

On my drive home the night she first spoke those words, I kept asking myself, “Why do I have to respond with an “I love you too,” to an “I love you”?

You took a minute, pondered over it and still didn’t get an answer suitable enough for that question, right? I didn’t either.

I care for her, like her, yes. But I wasn’t so sure I was in love. “You wouldn’t be able to tell, even if love were like a pellet and struck you in the face” was all she said and right before she left me, angered, her heels digging into the ground as she stormed off.

Go ahead and call me a schmuck, see if I care. How many people say “I like you too” as a response to an “I love you,” huh? It might sound dumb but I was trying to be sincere. They are quick to point out that men were all liars. My friend Nike is nice enough to say “99% are. “ and here I am, trying to be good for once but somehow I still did bad.

I hate to say the obvious but… Chicks love lies!

If I had confessed love too, I probably would be planning a weekend with pooky, my girlfriend and a grey big elephant right about now. But I didn’t, and that was my crime.

Sometimes I am tempted to ask Do we say we love because it is culturally accepted, because it is politically correct or is it because we feel like the people we love were important parts of us? parts that needs be cherished, wholly and unconditionally?

I don’t know how it works for others but I like to look before i jump, because when I do, I know I am prepared to keep my head afloat no matter the circumstances.

Sweetie, if you are reading this, I hope you now understand that Love is a rather ambiguous word. If you loved me like you claimed, and love were true, and real, and relevant, and conquers all, then it should make no demands.(Now I am sounding like a girl)

Men, I like to think are like sweet potatoes, all hard from the outside. But you boil and stew em and the taste is… So if you love ‘em be not afraid of the challenges.

I am not blaming you. Guess I should blame the media or peer pressure or society or something but I am sure as hell not taking the wrap for this one either.

Babe! Do you love me, or do you love me not?

PS:

I don’t hate pooky. I just think he is annoying. Really annoying!

THOUGHTS FROM THE POET..

Remove the rags of ignorance,
Put on the apparel of knowledge.

Turn off the light of stupidity,
And let the sun of wisdom shine down on you.

Do not wear the shoe size of stagnation,
Let your foot wear have the spirit of motion.

Do not look at the clock of the past,
Let your watch be tuned to the present,
And repair it if it doesn’t extend to tomorrow.

Let your eyes become the eye,
Not staring at the world,
But focusing at your world.

Do not talk if you are not sure,
For all talk but not all speak,
For all hear but not all listen.

As you wake up every morning,
And you realize you are still breathing,
And you do not know what to do,
Ask yourself, would I rather be dead or alive?
If it is the latter good for you.
If it is the former, see a pastor!

Artist Review: Rooftop MCs

Being in Naija Hip Hop and staying on top is not an easy task but even more difficult is putting the gospel first and still remain on top... Well i guess that's the story of our very own Naija gospel hip hop artists the Rooftop MCs that have managed to keep it together, tight and under control.

They have come out with many chart toppers, show busters and dance hall songs while still reminding the fans where their anchor lies (In God). Two young talented minds have made their way from back stage rapping through the ranks to the summit of the Nigeria rap culture.
People ask 'can they keep it real?' i think by real they mean "gospel" and i think the answer would be that they have been on the rooftop for many years now and i don't see them coming down... Kunle and Laitan friends & brothers in the same cause have chosen to lift their mics to honor the most high, doing it in the most unorthodox of ways mixing hip hop with the likes of rock, fuji and other styles that you wouldn't imagine could blend with rap. Rooftop MCs a crew to watch out for in Naija Hiphop...

With an album on the way "drunken master" you should know what to expect... Something extremely diffrenet form the rest. Just say with sean's entertainment and we would bring you info as the album unfolds. Here for your viewing pleasure a brand new video from the album featuring Tha Suspect Enjoy watching

New Videos - 9ice Photocopy and Pamurogo

Gongo Aso master as he is popularly called has decided that he is not holding on to a back log of music videos, i guess it could be seen as an act of cleaning out his closet... I guess this is because he is in the works to release a new album so he has to deal with the 'ghost of albums past'. In my opinion i think the photocopy video was nothing out of the ordinary that we have seen come out of the new improved Naija music industry but the Pamurogo was a little out of the box, refreshing and cool to watch... well as i said 'to my opinion', whats yours?... But thumbs up to him as it is not an easy task in all.

Here for your viewing pleasure two more new videos out by 9ice Photocopy and Pamurogo... Enjoy Watching

So here it is the official video by 9ice, not some white dude with a guitar!. The Video features the ever famous D'banj and Don Jazzy with a lot of 9ice looking babes. #lightupnigeria - The only way foward

#lightupnigeria keep saying it

The phrase #lightupnigeria has been spreading like wild fire, hopefully to an end that would finally restore dignity and a sense of progress to the Nigerian people. Most kids born in Nigeria in the last 2 decades (20 yrs) have probably never seen or enjoyed a four day stretch of uninterrupted power supply... Which spells a hopeless situation for not just the economy but for the mind frame of people... I recently had friends that travelled out of the country and when they got to their temporary places of residence, instinctively all of them brought out the cloths they would wear for the text two day and wanted to iron them... You see what i mean by mind set? #lightupnigeria

Did you know that there are a lot of businesses that one can venture into when there is a scenario of constant power supply? There are a lot of kids that would be out of trouble if there were constant power supply, did you know that you would spend less on feeding with constant power supply and even probably eat better? There are a lot of blockades that have grown into place with the event of no power supply... a lot of head aches have been generated by the noises of generating sets... What can we do? #lightupnigeria

Nepa is on strike but does it make a difference any way? A friend of mine once wrote a wonderful piece on life as a Nepa child and she spoke about the 'good', the 'bad' and the 'UGLY' and i guess the last one was the most noticeable... She ended her writeup with the picture of a candle which says a lot. Is there no other alternative source of energy? Can we not find a way to do away with Nepa? These are questions we should ponder over while we lift up our voices, key pads, key boards, graffiti pens or spray cans and say boldly #lightupnigeria till we begin to see the light grow in our mind set. An we eventually see a Nigeria with constant power supply... If Obama could do it then YES WE CAN!!! #lightupnigeria If we have to say it a hundred time, a thousand times even a million times lets keep on saying it till we are heard or more importantly till we hear it our selves #lightupnigeria #lightupnigeria #lightupnigeria.

We are tired of the situation well i know i am and everyone else in this movement and we will not stop till we see a change. Share this with all you friends let them know that we can make a change, let it be said that the change came in our time... God Bless Nigeria #lightupnigeria

Mr. Sean (True stories)

This is something new that i just thought of, nothing too fancy with colourful pictures and fly stars, just a simple guy known as Mr. Sean... He seems a little regular but has major day to day issues and i know that some of you might just want to read about him... Hmm so where do i start from? I guess the beginning is good a place to start as any.

What does it take to be a star? first tell yourself that you have the looks and the swaga then get a day job just in case it all doesn't work out so you don't end up flat on you butt broke. This is the classic life of Mr. Sean a Mechanical Engineer with the ambitions of Alexander the great 'to conquer the world' well at least his world as far as it stretches. It takes more than just realizing that he has what it take to make it to actually do as he realizes, when he finds out that a million other people have what it takes.

So the story starts like any other day when he goes for an Audion to be the next best thing i modeling, he walks up to his ward robe and picks out a neat pair of light blue jeans and a white tee shirt with an inscription on it that says you are the bomb, a gray bike jacket on top just to give him that model feel... So he is ready, steps out of the house just so that he doesn't sweat and feel all dirty at the Audion, he takes a cab.... Getting to the Audion center he met a lot of equally good looking people that seemed to match the bill as 'the perfect model' but that did not derail him, he picked him self up went into the rest room... up and down he practiced his walk, then i guess some of the guys the noticed he was in too long and went in after him only to join him on the walk to learn from him....

then suddenly the audition judge came in and calls all the participants to the center of a very big bar room, then starts using his hand to measure all the female models that were there, grabbing Tommy falbs and shouting "YOU ARE TOO FAT" to girls as skinny as ever and when he was finally done with the fat ones he asked the rest to walk in circles around the bar while the DJ played music. One by one he made his selection picked girls at a more or less random sequence... Then finally it was time for the guys Mr. Sean took a deep breath and said to him self "showtime", it was a little different for the guys as the judge didn't like touch them he just said start walking and every one did. Mr. Sean remembering the way he had practice stiffened his chin, straightened his back and took one cool step after another with all the gay swagger he could muster. Then finally the judge picks out two guy and Mr. Sean was on of them... with joy in his heart he step forward and the judge delivers a blow to his mid section but because of the joy he didn't pass out and he never realized he was just in for some of the worst times in his entertainment Carrier....

To be continued

RKelly denies duet with Tuface Idibia

RKelly denies duet with Tuface Idibia – Afolabi Adekoya (City People)

Since he release d his latest album, UNSTOPPABLE, popular singer, 2face idibia has found himself faced with one controversy or the other. The latest centers around the duet he claimed to have done with American RnB star, R. Kelly. The song in question is titled ‘FLEX’. According to him, in a recent interview, the deal was brokered by Toyin Subair, boss of HiTV cable network and he (2face), actually met R. Kelly in the US before recording the song. One of the reasons people seemed to be debating the authenticity of his claim of a collabo with R.Kelly is because the beat of the said song has been used by R.Kelly before in one of his songs.

While the entire nation seemed to have forgotten the issue, the whole collabo brouhaha came up again when R.Kelly visited Nigeria a few weeks ago. Expectedly, many people were expecting to see Tuface perform with R. Kelly but that didn’t happen. Rumours started flying that Tuface may have lied to Nigerians about having done a duet with R.Kelly.

Surprisingly, 2face, who’d featured in past music festival organized by ThisDay didn’t make the list of the performing artists billed for R.Kelly’s show. An insider disclosed that when R.Kelly was asked if he knows Tuface, he denied him, saying he had never heard the name before. He was said to have listened to the song they were meant to have done together and he laughed over it, insisting that he made the beat a long time ago, and that it must have been tapped on the Internet.

This City People learnt got the organizers upset and it is for this reason, sources revealed that 2face may have been dropped from the show.

Last week Thursday, City People put a call across to 2face to comment on the allegation but his line was not available, so they called up his manager, Efe Omoreige who spoke exclusively on the issue “Well, I have not heard anything from the organizers of the show that R.Kelly disclaimed Tuface, so I might not be able to respond to it. About the allegations that Tuface didn’t record with R.Kelly, I will explain to you. Yes the duet was real. Tuface recorded with R.Kelly but not in the same studio. The met but couldn't achieve being in the studio at the same time because of their tight schedule. R.Kelly did his own part and sent it to Tuface and that is all about it. Tuface didn’t perform at the show because he was already engaged elsewhere. We were contacted for the show, but we were already booked to be in Benin. You don’t expect Tuface to neglect a show he has been paid for to convince people that he knows R.Kelly”

Well from my point of view and my little experience with music recording... i didnt think Rkelly was on that track! but one thing is sure that i can breath a sigh of relief if Rkelly isn't suing Tuface for any copy right infringements... But i kinda like the song... Small wonder, my surprise

when Tuface said the video would cost a whooping 700,000 USD... woow! the song wasn't even that tight, i guess he needed money for any possible law suits...

What do you think?

Movie Review: Naija Animation

The O Twins
For a long time i thought that Nigerian movie industry would never ever deviate into the animation scene but some how i was shocked and very excited to see this... Its The O Twins. Nigeria's very own first animated 3D family series created by Michael Tokunbo Akindele and it portrays the life of a Nigerian family and the life around them as they see it featuring Tami, Timi Mom and Dad... From my own point of view i think this is an eye opener and a must watch for all Nigerians interested in the growth of our movie and theater entertainment sector.

Scheduled to be coming out in 2010... i would find my way to the front seat of whatever premiering cinema that it would be airing.

For a little more information check out their website on http://www.fusionng.com/ i am almost sure you would be glad you did. Below is the trailer or allow me to say teaser on this very welcome development

Chris Brown in a statement on Chris TV apologized for his behaviour of rage towards the woman he loves and says that he is truly sorry and he had done some soul searching and realized that he is the one most disappointed in his actions, adding that his mother and spiritual advisor taught him way better than that...

I know all y'all would be asking how does this relate to Naija but i should let you know that since the incident with Rhianna a lot of Naija girls have turn their CB Cds to trash packer or mirrors for their make up kit... at least now with this all the ladies can begin dusting their CB Cds again and regain some confidence in him

Bracket Video ft P Square - No time

The yori yori boys are back with a new video featuring the P square twin peter and paul titled 'No Time'... Nice song but i don't think i can say quite the same thing about the video, in my opinion the video was a little too behind time... i really don't know if they were trying to capture the old school feel that dates us back to Michael Jackson's 'Rock with You' video.... too many graphic effects thrown around made it seem like they really had nothing else to display.

OK so it doesn't seem like i am just talking without a second opinion, please indulge me my esteemed reader by watching this video that might only take 5 minutes of your time and tell me if i am being harsh or i have rightly spoken.... Presenting Bracket ft P Square - No Time

Music Review: Artist Spotlight

I have thought to my self for a long time that Nigerian are talented with gifts from all works of life and all ages... Lets take a look at the music industry we have rappers, male and female, dancer and choreography in both sexes but RnB still lacks many female artist... So that is why i have dedicated this post to one of Nigeria's female gospel artists that has proven to be one of Nigeria's gospel finest...

Lara George

Formally Lara Bajomo was born in Lagos, Nigeria as the fourth of five children to Mr. and Mrs. Oluwole Bajomo. She began her musical journey in her alma mater school choir- Queens’ College Yaba Lagos- where she was first given the opportunity to take a lead role in a song. Years later, Lara has transformed into the professional whose inspirational style of delivery has helped define the new sound and direction of Nigerian music. While studying Architecture at the University of Lagos Akoka, Lara joined the fellowship music team on campus, where she met Ty, Emem, and Dapo. The bond tightened, and further yielded the group KUSH. The influence of western and homeland tunes in their upbeat sound overwhelmed the populace, grew their fan base, and earned them huge accolades and achievements. The group, however, eventually split up.

In spite of all the challenges encountered in the music industry and after a 2-yr break from the scene. Lara re-launched her music career with a solo debut Album titled ‘Forever In My heart’ with Hit Single “Ijoba Orun’. The much-celebrated album earned Lara several nominations and awards such as ‘Voice of the Year 2008’ Nigeria Music Awards, as well as ‘Song of the Year’ and ‘Female Artiste of the Year’, Nigeria Gospel Music Awards 2009 . As a singer, Lara’s music inspires all who listen to it. Her soulful music has inspired and changed a great number of lives. Also, as a songwriter, she draws from all her experiences in life and the challenges she has encountered and conquered--- “I could wakeup
in the middle of the night with a tune in my head, and not until I have expressed my thoughts with the tune will I return to sleep.

At present, Lara George is about to release her sophomore album. The 14 track self titled album is an expression of her versatility. The style is more urban or ethnic contemporary as Lara likes to call it, and yet has elements of hip-hop, salsa and soul. There are two featured artistes in collaboration with her on this album: Lord of Ajasa in ‘Run with You’ and Midnight Crew’s Pat Uwaje King in ‘Halleluyah’. ‘Ko le baje’ – also a hit single from the new album – is currently enjoying massive airplay on all radio stations. Lara George is happily married to Gbenga George who is a legal practitioner and a music entrepreneur, and they both have a son - Adeoba Alexander George. (from http://www.myspace.com/larageorge)

So we at Sean's Entertainment wish Lara all the best and hope we would be there to follow her progress every step of the way because we know where she going - straignt to the top...

Fashion Review: Gladiator Sandals What are your Thoughts

For a while now gladiator sandals have been in Vogue and girls around the world and Nigeria
have caught
on really fast... Usually they are made to be worn on shorts, short skirts, three quarter jeans and the likes. But now aday's girls wear them on practically any thing (some even on Native) and some appear cool while others simply don't.

My thought on this is that i think it is quite cool to ware them most especially if your legs are straight, hairless and have a sharp enough contrast from the sandal you are wearing. Some sandals go as high as your thighs while others are just barley above the ankles, some are flat while others have hills the length of the sandals them selves....

This lovely and well accepted shoe type has become very popular among girls but if you were to be in my shoes... i mean that literally, will you take them off (as a Guy) to put on these very fashionable sandals? Well i know i wouldn't... but even if i would or wouldn't some designers have taken it upon them selves to decide that "all men are not the same" and some might try it on or even fall in love with it... so they made some just for men as you can see in the picture... funny hun? Note that they were originally worn by men and they were soldiers and gladiators hence, were the name came from... But i guess i would only wear it as a costume to some even, show, costume party or freak show.

so i would put up an opinion poll to find out how many guys would try it on or how many girls would love to see their man in one. Who know you might just set a new fashion trend in this part of the world and before you know it guys would have timberland gladiator sandals...LOL cool hun? Just my thought

Thanks for reading....

Naija News Today

Banky W Shoots New Video

In case you didn't know, Less than three weeks ago Mr. Capable travelled to south Africa to shoot the video to his soaring single "Strong Thing". Yes the dude ids back and seems Pretty much excited about the video, should all go well

with post production.

The video was shoot in Johannesburg because of the complex plot the singer wanted to achieve. According to Banky there was only one place it could be achieved considering the resources, crew and director needed to actualize the story line. As the singer aims to shoot mid next month the video to 'Lagos part'; another single already in radios from his coming album, the release of his much awaited sophomore album may be nearer than we envisaged.

Since scoring the Ebute Meta mix hit, stealing the hearts of fans in the process, the sweet talking RnB Dude has dropped two additional videos for the 'Capable re-mix' and 'Don't Break My Heart' the latter immediately upon release topped chats and is still sitting comfortably in the top spots of most video chart around Nigeria and some parts of Africa.

Ajasa Adds One year

Le Fenu So crooner, Osaniyi Oluwasegun, (aka) Lord of Ajasa, was a year older on Thursday 16th July. Unlike his usual way of celebrating, the singer sat at home with his family while recording in his studio. The singer who got married less than six month ago and was blessed with a child in May was grateful to God for another year but decided to spend time with his wife and son. after all, its his first birthday as a husband and a father.

When asked he simply replied that he had work to do, he said "even right now i am working in my studio on a few new songs". and nothing inspires him quite like quiet time with his family.

Nollywood star, Eucharia Anunobi, drops N100m divorce compensation

Nollywood star actress, Eucharia Anunobi Ekwu, has backed down on her demand for N100 million compensation as she prayed the court for dissolution of her marriage to Charles Ekwu at a Lagos High Court, Ikeja, on Thursday.

According to the petitioner’s new pleading, all she wants is a dissolution, sole custody of her son and whatever compensation the court gives in regard to the upkeep of their child and her maintenance.

This was contrary to her prayers when she urged the court to grant her the sole custody of the only child of their marriage and N100 million compensation for all expenses borne by her after her husband abandoned their matrimonial home.

However, at the resumed trial of the matter, counsel to Eucharia asked for the leave of the court to amend their earlier petition on the divorce. The judge though, granted the prayers of the petitioner, ordered that all loose ends be tidied before the next trial date.

Eucharia had earlier prayed the court to dissolve the six-year-old marriage between her and her estranged businessman husband, Charles Ekwu because the marriage has broken down completely and there was no love between them because they have been living apart since 2006.

She had also on June 3, 2009 during her evidence informed the court that they got married on December 20, 2000 at the Ikoyi Registry but the marriage which produced a boy, broke down in 2006.

According to her, “The marriage has broken down because in 2006 when we had a misunderstanding on his infidelity because I caught him with our 13 year old housemaid and when I raised eyebrows, he moved out of our matrimonial home and till now we have not heard nor seen him”.

“It has not been easy because I have always been responsible financially to the marriage. We have been living in the house I secured as a spinster, even after marriage and I have been financially engaged in the family because of the love I have for him,” she said.

Nwana assured the court that the amendment was in order to make everything smooth. Subsequently, the case was adjourned till September 23, 2009 for cross-examination and further hearing.

Fashion Review: What To Consider When Desciding a Man' Watch

A watch is the single most important accessory a man can own, it is an essential style element. As you might imagine, I am acutely aware of these kinds of details and I must say I've noticed too many casual watches making their way into office/work/formal settings. It screams sloppy (and so do I) and I urge all of you who wear your multi-function sport watches with your suits and other dressier attire to pick up something slightly more sophisticated.

Photos From Brand Crunch (http://www.brand-crunch.webeden.co.uk)

And just to clarify, if your watch has a night-vision feature, measures distances, calculates altitude, has a compass, has a rubber strap, and/or has a digital display, it is the wrong thing to wear to a more formal occasion be it the office, a more formal party, etc.

Here is a list of things to consider when looking for your watch.

First Consider Your Lifestyle

I do suggest having different watches for both work and play if your lifestyle merits it or you simply like having variety. However, when buying a dressier watch, you should choose something that is classic or more lasting. I'm not as concerned about sporty/technical watches since they have a tendency to be less expensive--such as those made by Nike, Suunto and Polar. And let me be brutally honest, there's nothing stylish about them anyway - they are about function. Now if you have a sporty watch like the Omega Seamaster, that's a different story. Can we say James Bond?

A Stainless-Steel Bracelet
Stainless steel is more practical than leather and is certainly more durable. It's dressy enough to be worn with a business suit and casual enough for other occasions. So not only is it versatile, but it's waterproof to boot. You could always go for gold if you wanted to drop some serious cash, but be careful since it might give off an unfavorable impression.

The Face
Another thing that gets me when it comes to watches is the size of the watch face relative to the wrist that's wearing it. On bigger men a standard watch face can end up looking like a ladies watch. Watch makers are continually coming out with watches that have larger than standard faces. In fact, it has become quite a trend. I personally love bigger watch faces whether you're a big guy or not, it's a great look.

Water Resistance
It's a great feature if you shower or swim with your watch on, but let's be honest, who really does that? I like it because if you get caught in the rain or get your watch accidentally wet, you don't have to worry. And by the way, water resistant can mean several things so be sure you ask to what degree the watch really is resistant. Some watches will resist moisture from accidental splashing, rain, sweat, etc. and others will resist moisture up to certain depths such as 50 or 100 meters.

The Color of the Face and Strap

There is a trend to have dials and straps in exciting colors. I've seen it from cheap to expensive watches. When building a classic wardrobe stick to the tried and true colors that you know will blend and look appropriate in a business or formal setting. Save the trendy colors for a second or third watch if you must.

And if you need some help choosing a watch, I have great suggestion -
